    Biography

    Kate Solpari is a medical student at the UCSF School of Medicine and a researcher in the LIN Lab, where she works across the lab's surgical AI and medical device portfolio, including FaceShift. Much of her research applies machine learning to data generated in the operating room, with the aim of making surgical performance and surgical education measurable, and she collaborates with engineers, clinicians, and trainees from concept through validation. Kate earned her BA in Neuroscience from Columbia University and completed a Fulbright fellowship in Bologna, Italy, engineering honeybee colonies into distributed environmental sensors for epidemiologic surveillance. She previously conducted gastrointestinal endoscopy outcomes research in New York. Her work spans surgical artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, and outcomes research.
